The Incredible Benefits of Acupressure

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Acupressure is the Traditional Chinese Healing Therapy, which is believed to be around 5000 years old and is a very authentic healing practice, now known to be the third most popular method to treat illness or pain throughout the world.

Acupressure is the only therapy that can treat almost all diseases, that too naturally. For many health problems, it provides quick, effective and permanent relief from the symptoms. Also, acupressure has no side effects like the most stereotyped medicines usually have. It also helps in improving overall immunity, strengthening digestion, improving sleep quality, relieving stress and anxiety. It is the best known and the most effective methods to relieve joint pain and inflammation. It also soothes muscles pain and discomfort (or swelling) caused by the injury. It helps in minimizing headaches too.

Acupressure is very beneficial in reducing other body pains such as chronic back pain or nerve pain (neuropathy) common in diabetics.
The therapy supports the regulation of the body’s lymphatic, circulatory and hormonal systems. While it helps in strengthening the overall health, it equally boosts the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Acupressure is also very beneficial in treating allergies and other symptoms associated with it.

Acupressure is also believed to reduce menstrual pain and PMS symptoms among women claimed various studies, improving their quality of life. It helps to combat nausea and is demonstrated beneficial in inducing labor too.

The major goal of acupressure (and other Chinese Medicine treatments) is to promote the movement of “Chi” also called “life energy” through the 14 channels or meridians found inside the body.  Any imbalance in these channels leads to illness. It indicates that when an illness occurs, there are blockages in the body meridians. In Chinese medicine, it is believed that an individual can restore their own health through the channeling of these meridians.

Mostly, Acupressure is practiced as a treatment by Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists, and by massage therapists. Acupressure involves the placement of physical pressure by hand, elbow, or with various devices on different acupressure points on the body. These points are said to be the sources of energy that are regulated by meridians.

Usually, Not all acupressure points can be manipulated on your own, but many are located on your hands itself which one can treat them on their own, which again is a plus. One can treat a variety of health issues on their own with minimal to no cost, right at the comfort of their own home, also with no side effects, unlike medicated painkillers or other drugs used to treat chronic pain. It is very beneficial in treating acute and chronic physical pain caused by arthritis, rheumatism, osteoporosis, sciatica, migraine, sports injuries and muscle, joint and back pains.
This really makes acupressure very easy to do and easy to reach to combat many serious health concerns.
However, in case of serious health issues acupressure should not be done on your own and only be treated under the guidance of an Acupressure practitioner only. Additionally, acupressure should not be used as the only treatment for serious illness or chronic conditions but should, instead, be in addition to the treatment prescribed by a licensed doctor.
